BIO: Peter Truffa.
Background / Early years:
Peter Truffa was 9 years old when he played the the old upright piano his father kept in the basement. This was arguably the first musical spark for the American producer, lyricist, singer, keyboardist, and composer. Studies in music at the State University of New York Purchase were instrumental as he studied under pianist Charles Blenzig and bassist Vinshnu Wood whose jazz quartet work with disadvantaged kids and volunteering concerts for disabled people would shape his background in Boogie Woogie and stride style piano. During those formative college years, he honed in on his love for composition, recording, and playing with friends like Tony Tino, John Kaiteris, & Adam Deitch.
Truffa pushed his career in the music field by composing for MTV and becoming part of the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble with whom he recorded the single “Properly” and “Minor Moods” respectively in 2001 and 2002. Touring in the US and Europe with NYSJE led to meeting Italian trombone man, Mr. T-Bone. The Following years were a mix between ska in NY and rocksteady in Italy.
Peter performed live shows with Grammy winning latin jazz artist Raphael Cruz, beginning his career in the music industry by composing for MTV and eventually becoming part of the New York Ska Jazz Ensemble with whom he produced “Properly Single” and “Minor Moods” in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
As part of Giuliano Palma & the Bluebeaters, Truffa helped to redefine the role of a Palma and his band with extensive touring and recordings. The hit single, “Messico E Nuvole” won the band MTV status fame. Every year the tour highlight was a large benefit concert whose proceeds benefited cancer victims in Piemonte, Italy. In 2009 he contributed to the sounds of the innovative Sweet Life Society in and out of the studio. 2010 involved recordings and shows with Italian singer sensation Alberto Bianco on a set of recordings on the INRI label. Meanwhile the Bluebeaters continue with a recording in which Peter had a major role in.
